How can I submit my application?

What is the goal of the theme proposal?
The theme proposal has a main aim: to assess the applicant's interest on the themes approached by the programme. In short, this proposal corresponds to a preliminary idea of the work the applicant would like to develop, allowing a better characterization of the applicants' interests.

What is the average size of this theme proposal?
These proposals should be in English and should not exceed 1,500 words, Times New Roman 12, one-and-one-half space.

What is the deadline for the application submission for 2023/24 edition?
1st phase: 1st to 31st March, 2023; 2nd phase: 1st June to 14th July, 2023; 3rd phase: 1st to 13th September, 2023; Extraordinary phase: 16th to 27th October, 2023.
This PhD programme is biennial.

When will the information about the applicants' selection be sent?
The applicants will receive information about the selection processes before the opening of the enrolment periods. Selected applicants must enrol and register through the platform InforEstudante. More Information

What is the class schedule?
The first semester will run from September through January and the second semester from February through June.
The Academic Calendar will be available here. Classes will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, at daytime. There might be adjustments depending on unforeseen circumstances.

Is the attendance to seminars mandatory?
Yes, and there is no possibility of attending the seminars at a distance. Students must participate in the seminars determined by the study plan, as well as in the sessions with guest speakers, held within the scope of the programme's activities.

What are the programme's working languages?
The programme is taught in English.
