Abstract

In the seminar we will discuss the consequences of the process of reconfiguration and refunctionalization Sepetiba Bay, Rio de Janeiro, on the work and health of fishermen operating in that territory. We will focus on the concept of social determinants in health in order to approximate the macrodeterminants and its current growth drivers, with the living conditions and health of this category of workers.


Bio note

Marcelo Bessa de Freitas holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and Health at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, with master's and doctorate in Public Health from the National School of Public Health. He is  associate researcher and lecturer at the National School of Public Health/Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. Works in the area of public health, with an emphasis on Sanitation and Environmental Health, addressing the following topics: analysis of environmental conflicts in contaminated areas; social and environmental impacts on coastal fishing and quarrying; risk management and environmental health. Develops post -doctoral research at CES.
