Resumo

In all fields, research, policy-making and practice could be more troubled by variation, particularity, or, more generally, heterogeneity.  This workshop is designed to allow participants to explore different kinds of heterogeneity and try to make sense of the situations in which heterogeneities, especially in the life and environmental sciences, are or are not troubling for various researchers, policy-makers, and activists, themselves included. The interaction-intensive format of the New England Workshop on Science and Social Change will be adopted, but this workshop also weaves in a "collaborative exploration" around a scenario. The hoped-for outcome of this workshop's collaborative exploration is a prospectus that elicits wider interest in being troubled by heterogeneity. Applications are sought from teachers and researchers (including students) who are interested in moving beyond their current disciplinary and academic boundaries.
