A project of the Centre for Social Studies (CES), focused on the provision of educational resources and the production and dissemination of more scientific knowledge about the Holocaust, has just received funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

Coordinated by António Sousa Ribeiro, researcher and director of CES and retired FLUC full professor, «The Holocaust in Portuguese: a dynamic repository of educational resources» is the name of the research approved to receive funding under the special support to research and development projects (R&D) on the theme «Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory», support within the «Nunca Esquecer» [Never Forget] - National Programme on the Memory of the Holocaust. With a 32 thousand euros funding, it will last for one year.

As the title suggests, this project proposes to create a repository, in online format and in open access, «which may function as a dynamic archive directly apt to be appropriated as an educational resource in Portuguese, thus filling an important gap regarding the educational resources available in the field of Holocaust education in Portuguese, taking into account the international recommendations and practices and, in particular, the "Recommendations for Holocaust Teaching and Learning" recently issued by the Portuguese Ministry of Education», highlights António Sousa Ribeiro.

The researcher also underlines that the repository will be structured as a guide, «providing access to ample documentation and offering systematic guidance for the production of contents and didactic strategies adequate to each particular context by teachers and educational agents».
