Book presentatio by André Barata (Faculdades de Artes e Letras - UBI | Sociedade Portuguesa de Filosofia)

This book, with general coordination by Cláudia Pato de Carvalho and Isabel Craveiro, results from a 4-year work (2018-2021) within the scope of the research-action project Rede Artéria (coordinated artistically by Teatrão and academically by the Centre for Social Studies), framed by the notice CENTRO 14.2016.03 - Programação Cultural em Rede. The Artéria Network was constituted as a network of creation, programming, circulation and production of knowledge, involving eight municipalities of the Central Region and developing projects emanating from the discussion between municipalities, artists, cultural associations, polytechnics and universities of the region and the public. The academic side of the project focused on contributing to the design of artistic intervention projects through the Artéria Network Collaborative Workshops, on the monitoring of those same projects and on the evaluation of their impact on the territory at a cultural, social and political level.

This book intends to give an account of this long process of creation and scientific monitoring of the Artéria Network and opens the way to new future possibilities. Teatrão and the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra would very much like to create a new work cycle of the Artéria Network. This book contains some reflections for all stakeholders, fruit of the discussions generated among all.
