Title: Gender, race, sexuality and education: space for diversity

Overview: The idea is to present the project's actions in dialogue with the principles of popular education for training in gender, race/ethnicity and sexual diversity and their relationship with social movements. The project's main objective is to contribute to the continued training of teachers and elementary and high school teachers from public schools in Santo Antônio de Jesus and students from undergraduate and graduate courses at Campus V of the State University of Bahia (UNEB).

Bio Note: Feminist historian and researcher of Gender Studies, Vânia Vasconcelos holds a PhD in History from Federal Fluminense University (Brazil/2014), with a short-term exchange period at Universitat Rovira i Virigili (Spain). She is currently an associate professor at UNEB and a visiting post-doctoral research intern at the Centre for Social Studies/University of Coimbra.

Title: From the Northeastern Communities (Brazil) to the Children of Coimbra (Portugal)

Overview: In this presentation, some outreach projects carried out in some municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast Brazil, and in Coimbra, Portugal will be framed. Joining them is an ecosystem approach to human health, seeking to communicate and co-build knowledge about biodiversity and health. Among the topics covered are the (re)emergence of infectious diseases and the importance of biodiversity in urbanized areas.

Bio Note: Rita Campos - Researcher at CES-UC (communication and non-formal education in science, biodiversity and link between biodiversity and health); Magnólia Araújo - Professor at UFRN (Brazil) and Visiting Researcher at CES in 2019 (teaching biology, education for sustainability, waterborne and vector-borne diseases)

Title: Environmental knowledge, public sphere and territorial ordering: floods and multiple territorialities that affect Ururaí, in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ)

Overview: The reflection involves visions of "nature" from the experience of the flooding of the Ururaí River in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). Since 2012, the project has been communicating with residents and students in the neighbourhood in search of better understanding and coping with the conditions and consequences of the floods that have affected it for a long time. One of the references was the Sociology of Disasters. Since then, debates have taken place with residents, student community leaders (children and youth) and the representations they develop in the context of disasters.

Bio Note: Professor at the Federal Fluminense University (Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ, Brazil), linked to undergraduate courses in Geography and Economics, and postgraduate courses in Geography. Develops post-doctoral internship at the Centre for Social Studies (CES/UC) under supervision of Lúcia Fernandes and Stefania Barca. Studies themes related to the concept of “nature” in political ecology and geography (political ontologies/epistemologies), based on empirical situations involving the teaching of geography, and socio-environmental conflicts and disasters.

Title: Solidarity Enterprises Incubator: INCUBA / UFRB: Articulation between outreach, research and university education.

Overview: In this presentation, the academic actions of the Solidarity Enterprises Incubator (INCUBA) of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia - UFRB will be highlighted, through the partnership relationship with solidary economy enterprises in the state of Bahia.

Bio Note: Silvio Soglia holds a PhD in Food Science from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA, 2003), Associate Professor at UFRB and works on projects in the area of solidarity economy and sustainable socioeconomic development as a member of INCUBA. Currently, he is doing a post-doctoral internship at the Centre for Social Studies - CES at the University of Coimbra

Title: Solidary canteens: the experience of a solidary economic enterprise in the UFRB environment

Overview: A presentation of the incubation experience of the Bom Gosto Community Development Association, which has been accompanied by the Solidarity Enterprises Incubator –INCUBA/UFRB since 2010. This Association is formed by family farmers, responsible for the sale of food in the solidarity canteens of UFRB. The incubation process presented is considered innovative as a job and income generation project, seeking to build a model of social and economic insertion, integrated into the university through university outreach.

Bio Note: Maria Soglia holds a PhD in Sciences from the Federal University of Lavras (2005), Associate Professor at UFRB, Member of INCUBA/UFRB and works with Outreach Programmes and Projects in the area of Solidarity Economy.

Title: The city as the locus of teacher education: public schools and universities weaving citizen networks

Overview: A Pedagogical Research-Action experience consisting of teachers and students from public schools and universities in Brazil who together investigate the relationships between the city, teaching, research and outreach, their epistemologies and practices of teacher education in the century XXI.

Bio Note: Professor at the Faculty of Teacher Education at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, doing a post-doctoral internship at CES under supervision of Prof. Professor Paulo Peixoto.

Title: 10 years of SER Mulher

Overview:This presentation will show the trajectory of the 10 years of existence of the outreach project of the law course at UESC (Ilhéus-Bahia), SER Mulher - a reference centre in women's rights.

Bio Note: Saskya Lopes is Assistant Professor in the Department of Legal Sciences at the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC) and a doctoral student in Human Rights in Contemporary Societies at the University of Coimbra
