Summary

Everywhere in the world, every day, women are victims of murder simply because they are "women". And here we come to the object of study of this work: the analysis of the problem of feminicide, with an emphasis on the Brazilian case. It is written by a judge who was confronted with this form of violence, not primarily through reading books or due to participation in research - which is the way we usually approach a topic in academia, but rather through her hard - and often frustrating - work as a magistrate, who is faced with women victimized by this violence. The author listened to their reports, often thought and decided "for them". And that experience made her confront what different feminist theories of law call "invisibility of violence" and "denial of rights", which occurs due to the performance of a series of complex mechanisms to protect sexist values, that mark the development of our patriarchal societies. Our justice system does not escape this reality, on the contrary, it is the place of production and reproduction of discrimination against women, as evidenced by extensive specialised literature.
