Synopsis: The silencing of the Portuguese Colonial War (1961-1974) constitutes one of the most structural elements of the democratic and post-imperial reconstruction of Portuguese society. In the light of an extensive collection of life stories of "Disabled of the Armed Forces", this documentary analyses the struggles for sense brought upon their narratives. It is access to the terms of a confrontation between a memory of violence, corporally branded, and the denegation of colonial violence in the common sense of democratic Portugal.

Documentary produced under the project "Lives scarred by History: The Portuguese Colonial War and the "Disabled of the Armed Forces" [PTDC/CS-SOC/102726/2008 | FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-009271]
