EDiSo pre-Symposium session

Present day discourses: What do we mean by discourse?

June 17, 2015, 14h00

Room 1, CES-Coimbra

Abstract

This pre-symposium event is aimed at postgraduate students and researchers interested in Discourse. It is intended to be a face-to-face conversation between social scientists and discourse analysts on issues of methods and methodologies. A sociologist from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid; a researcher from the Centre for Social Studies in Coimbra; and a researcher in discourse analysis from the EDiSo organization will jointly explore the articulation between discourse studies, the humanities and the social sciences as well as discuss the role of interdisciplinarity and the place of sharing or translating ideas from one discipline to another. Some of the ideas that come up in this pre-session may be further developed and connected to the data analysis workshops that will take place at the Symposium.
