Framework
The twentieth century was the scene of major advances in biomedical and pharmacological treatments and therefroe it can be assumed that this rate of novel in diagnosis, therapeutic and rehabilitation will continue during the twenty-first century. However, despite such progress, never have uncertainties and suspicions regarding both science and the medical and hygiene practices as well as the possibility of continuing to ensure, or assure to those not yet guaranteed, access and equity in health care, been so deep and widespread. Also, there is the belief that the current economic, technological and scientific progress may generate contradictory results for health as well, as a result of the severe ecological crisis related to our industrial system. On this assumption, this seminar series aims to analyze and discuss certain topics and issues that provide important indicators to understand the current state of the relationship between health and society.
