Biographic Note
Gunther Merzthal, Peruvian, graduated in Media, is the coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean of the RUAF Global Programs “From Seed to Table” and “Cities Farming for the Future” fostered by the RUAF Foundation and IPES, with the support of IDRC (Canada) and DGIS (Netherlands). He is a consultant for several local governments about participatory urban management regarding urban agriculture, solid waste and waste water management, he has also coordinated projects like “Optimización de la Gestión del Agua para combatir la Pobreza Urbana” (OGAPU)” and SWITCH (Sustainable Water management Improves Tomorrow’s Cities’ Health) of IHE-UNESCO – Institute for Water Education. Until 2005, he worked in Ecuador on the Program "Gestión Urbana para America Latina y el Caribe" of UN-HABITAT.
