Overview

The idea of creating mechanisms to identify who is immune to Covid 19 in such a way as to allow an albeit fleeting idea of security and control in the course of the gradual disconnection of societies has led to the emergence of passports or certificates of immunity. In this op-ed Sue Halpern discusses some of the ethical, social, political and technical implications associated with the creation of these population control and surveillance tools.
