About

This seminar starts from popular collective experiences - in the field of production, consumption, solidarity finance - to reflect on the city as the intermediary scale between the community and the national/global, the scale of the systems of exchange and daily circulation of people and products. We will look at embryonic ways of overcoming the city-countryside dichotomy through solidarity networks of production-circulation-consumption of goods and services. Preliminary results of research on urban agriculture in the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro will be presented. We will focus on the one hand on agroecological movements, farmer networks, markets and public actions (policies and urban planning). On the other hand, working practices (productive-reproductive).
