About
The seminar aims to highlight the material production that cuts across the life of the communities of Bumba-boi do Maranhão and discuss how it mobilizes the imagination and creates sociabilities around the play in which these materialities - dance, music, clothes and props - are articulated in what is called territory of enchantment. The intention is to think about those many moments in which the Bumba-boi is celebrated in terms of the construction and maintenance of a network of exchanges and sociabilities among communities, in which subjects exchange not only goods, but also kindnesses, rites, people, and establish alliances, with this and the other world. A second moment will explore what can be carried forward in the reflection of other ontologies of body and presence.
