Methodology Series

Roundtable of Knowledges I

2019

Overview

The diversity of research areas covered by the Centre for Social Studies entails the use of different methodologies. On the other hand, research challenges lead us along different paths but, in many cases, using similar strategies.

The series "Roundtable of Knowledges" proposes a space for critical reflection on methods and practices of scientific research used by CES researchers. The aim is to develop instruments of critical analysis on current methodologies in research in the areas of social sciences, arts and humanities, as well as to encourage inter and transdisciplinary dialogue on methodological practices within the CES research community.

Intended to function as an incubator of rich inter/transdisciplinary experiences, this series includes workshops and roundtables. The workshops are more formal moments of analysis of methodologies, approaches and specific practices. The roundtables, which take place on the first Thursday of each month (except in months where a Roundtable of Knowledges Workshop is being held or coinciding with holiday periods), complement them, providing informal moments to share experiences and doubts. In both moments, the debate will be guided in order to facilitate the emergence of new ideas, learning, collaboration opportunities, projects or publications, from a focus on methodologies, which will be approached from different perspectives.
