Presentation

The Workshop and International Symposium "i-Mumbai: Identity and Heritage on the fringes of an Indian Metropolis", will be held in Mumbai, between the 15th and 20th of February, 2016.

Heritage associated to the minority communities of Mumbai's metropolitan region has often been under-researched and, at times, neglected. Many of the city's oldest buildings are associated to the East Indian community, while others are related to other religious minorities, having a rich and diverse heritage value. The Workshop and International Symposium aim at debating heritage and conservation interventions, both at urban and building levels. The symposium will also broaden the relation between the two organising institutions from India and Portugal.
