Difference Beyond Recognition: Recent debates in gender, sexuality and the built environment (parte 2)

Resumo
This two-part seminar will examine recent developments theories of identity and difference, with emphasis on debates at the intersection of gender, sexuality and the built environment. Readings and discussions will examine the shift from social theories stressing representation and the politics of recognition, to those concerned with embodiment and aesthetics. Recent theoretical formations including actor network theory, and the role of affect in social theory will be examined and assessed in relation to case studies of architecture and urbanism. Participants will be required to read up to three articles for each session, and a supplemental list of background readings will also be provided.
