Workshop
Un-schooling the summer: Walking the line of environmental injustice in Alentejo
16 a 22 de julho de 2023
From Lisbon to Sines
About
The Ecology and Society Lab (ECOSOC) organises this year's summer non-school under the theme of environmental justice, touring the Alentejo coast and the process of accumulation by contamination and dispossession in that region. Crossing on foot, by bicycle and public transport, what is still considered the best-preserved coastline in Europe, from Lisbon to Sines, together with social movements committed to building an agenda of alternatives for eco-social justice. The programme includes activities with the struggles against evictions and for the right to housing in Lisbon, linked to energy justice; with the movement for free dunes, against coastal urbanisation and privatisation of the dune cordon in the Comporta area; with the last winter campaign for gas at the Sines refinery and with queer agroecological resistance and community alternatives against industrial agriculture in São Luís/Odemira.
