International Conference
Strings that weave memory: on colonial wars and liberation struggles
September 22 and 23, 2017
INEP, Bissau (Guinea-Bissau)
Abstract
The INEP - National Institute of Studies & Research of Guinea-Bissau and the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, through the CROME project, organize a discussion on colonial pasts and the processes of resistance that opposed them. In this sense, the conference proposes a reflection on the uses of the past, on the experience of violence and on the politics of memory in the times and places in which they are founded. The meeting intends to present and discuss the colonial war and the liberation struggles in the different national contexts and to deepen research paths that have been developed in different academic spaces.
