Religions and public space in times of pandemic

Tiago Pires Marques

Abstract

While a Covid-19 rhetoric of spirituality is forming, religions disappear from public space. Are they being digitalised? In any case, the logic of digital is now advancing rapidly, valuing audio-visual culture on the multisensory experience and the relational dimension of religions. In the media market, religions that are more adjusted to digital capitalism have a clear advantage over community religious worlds. Statement by Tiago Pires Marques, cocoordinator at POLICREDOS.
