CC.EDU - Working Group on Citizen Science and Education
CC.Edu welcomes interns from UC
July 2024
During the summer months, CC.Edu welcomed Daniela Lebre, a student on the Master's Degree in Sociology at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC), and Leonor Silva, a student on the Degree in Sociology at the same faculty, under the University of Coimbra (UC) Internship Programme.
Daniela and Leonor's internship includes taking part in some activities in collaboration with other members of the Working Group, such as the guided tour of the ‘Entre Lugares’ exhibition and debate with a group of young people in June, the summary of which can be read HERE.
An important part of the two interns' work plan will be carried out in collaboration with the União das Freguesias de Coimbra (UFC), and will allow them to evaluate their activities aimed at children and youth during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as apply participatory and citizen science methodologies with groups of children and youth from the parish attending the UFC summer camp between July and August. These methodologies will make it possible to conduct a critical diagnosis of one of the areas of the parish and include the perspectives of children and youth on the planning and management of urban public space.
This internship will result in greater knowledge about the impact of UFC initiatives on the educational success and development of skills in the parish's children and youth, as well as about the parish's public spaces and strategies for involving younger people in co-governance processes.
