COVID-19 NOTICE: In light of the pandemic conditions, and given that a doctoral internship requires presence at CES, the institution recommends internship proposals to include a schedule starting after September 2021. This date may, however, be revised in due course, according to the evolution of the situation and the resulting guidelines from the competent authorities, namely the Directorate General of Health of the Portuguese Republic.

The title of visiting doctoral student is attributed to the doctoral student of a foreign institution, who undertakes periods of stay at the Centre for Social Studies with the objective of developing supervised research activities according to a previously approved work plan by CES Scientific Council. This visit’s length of stay may be from 6 to 12 months.

The application for doctoral internship scientific hosting, comprised of motivation letter, statement of acceptance of the CES researcher who will supervise the visit, CV, letter of support from the home institution supervisor, work plan and chronogram, must be submitted to ces@ces.uc.pt, in one of the three established calls, between 1 and 15 of January, 16 and 31 of May or 1 to 15 of September of each calendar year.  The results will be communicated within a period of no more than 30 days.

All the communications, publications or materials for the dissemination of scientific activities resulting from the doctoral visit must mention having benefitted from the received guidance, with a clear reference to the supervisor and to the research conducted during the stay at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra.
