Workhop | Roda de Saberes
Visual methodologies
May 2, 2019, 15h00
Room 2, CES | Alta
Overview
In the first session of the “Roda de saberes” workshops cycle we will discuss different approaches to the use of a visual dimension in research. From the images created by the researcher in charge to those produced by the participants, visual methodologies offer various advantages in social research. They can, for instance, be used to characterise a given social or cultural context, facilitate interviews or promote the participation of the public in research.
Starting from a practical exercise, the participants will be invited to dialogue about the potential – and the challenges! – posed by visual methodologies in different social contexts and methodological approaches. After all, why do we choose to use these methodologies?
This session will be moderated by Alison Neilson and Rita Campos (CES) | Contact: rodadesaberes@ces.uc.pt
