Scope

The field of ​​Studies in Sexualities has been consolidated at CES over the last decade, bringing together a significant number of projects, publications and theses completed or in progress. The GPS-CES | The Research Group on Sexualities results from the desire to gather knowledge that is sometimes dispersed, facilitating inter-knowledge and the creation of networks. It is constituted as a meeting platform for researchers at various stages of their scientific career, professors, doctoral students and alumni in the CES community whose research interests involve the field of Studies in Sexualities from a multiplicity of theoretical perspectives and disciplinary places. .

GPS-CES assumes itself, therefore, as a research group with an intersectional standpoint, following the inter and transdisciplinary approach that characterizes the work carried out at CES, constituting a space for intellectual development and exchange open to all Thematic Lines and members of this community. The only common denominator for the various members of the GPS-CES will be their research work in Studies in Sexualities, including topics as diverse as harassment and other forms of sexual violence, asexuality, sexual citizenship, LGBTQI+ rights, queer methodologies, consensual non-monogamies and sexual health, among others.

Goals

GPS-CES responds to a double objective: a) to provide a space for meeting and consolidating research on sexualities carried out within the scope of CES, involving the entire CES community in the different stages of their career; b) provide CES with greater projection and visibility in this area with different institutions and bodies, also extending to civil society (extension activities) and the media (communication in science).

In this sense, GPS-CES will promote a set of activities proposed by its members, which include seminars, thematic workshops, reading groups, promotion of CES goes to School sessions, book launches, co-authored publications, among others. Within the scope of its activities, partnerships are foreseen with the Thematic Lines and ongoing projects at CES or other similar institutions, as well as the involvement of interlocutors such as the Thematic Section on Sexuality and Gender of the Portuguese Sociological Association.
