The voice of children and young people in research based on citizen science methodology is a topic that merits in-depth discussion. The participation of citizen scientists and their recognition, not merely as subjects of research but as active agents in the process of knowledge construction, are widely discussed. This roundtable discussion proposes that children and young people who participate collaboratively in citizen science projects receive due recognition and have their voices genuinely heard in the construction of scientific debate.

This dialogue aims to broaden the discussion among researchers to involve citizen scientists in the debate. Schools are invited to participate in this discussion on what citizen science projects represent within the school environment and how this impacts their educational pathways.

To contribute to the discussion and help guide the conversation, the following debate points will be presented:

1. How can we ensure that the voices of children and young people are genuinely considered in citizen science projects?
2. How can schools become spaces for participatory scientific production?
3. What are the ethical and methodological limits of children’s and young people’s participation in these projects?

Target audience: researchers, teachers, and students from schools in Portugal (Primary and Secondary Education) and Brazil (Secondary and Primary Education)
