Overview

This reflection aims to study the acts of return, looking at them as reflective movements. Two groups of descendants of Portuguese emigrants are studied: a group of (former) university students from the University of Minho (in two distinct phases [1994-1995 and 2010-2012]) and a group of artists. In the first group the production of a retrospective of the marks and changes caused over time in a post-return situation and in the second group seeks to give visibility to a constellation of geographies, routes and different artistic areas (plastic arts, literature, cinema, dance, etc.) It is assumed that the approach to the creations of these artists allows us to understand their position as producers of a critical discourse in public space on a global scale, as it leads us to re-read the readings we continue to make about the past, the present and the future of Portuguese emigration.
