Sofia José Santos


Sofia José Santos is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Researcher of the Centre for Social Studies from the University of Coimbra. She is also Associate Researcher at OBSERVARE, Autonomous University of Lisbon. She holds Post-graduate Specialization in Communication Sciences from ISCTE-IUL, a PhD and a MA in International Politics and Conflict Resolution from the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra, and a BsC in International Relations from the same faculty. Previously, she was post-doc researcher at CES and at OBSERVARE, and researcher and coordinator for media and communications at Promundo-Europe. She was also visiting scholar at the Flemish Peace Institute and fellow at the Universiteit Utrecht. From 2008 to 2018 she co-coordinated and co-edited of the P@x Online bulletin. Her current research interests include media, masculinities and violence prevention; digital rights and contentious politics; critical internet studies; critical media literacy; securitization and media representations; media and foreign policy.
