Biography

Law degree`s (1983) by the University of Coimbra (Faculty of Law). Post Graduate courses in Institut de Études Politiques (Science/Po - Paris) and in the International Institute of Sociology of law in Oñati (Spain). Master (2002) and Phd (2013) on Sociology of Law by the University of Coimbra (Faculty of Economics). Professor ("Professor auxiliar") of law and sociology of law at Faculty of Economics (University of Coimbra - FEUC). Researcher of Center of Social Studies (CES/UC) and of Center of Cooperative and Social Economy Studies (CECES/FEUC). Member of Family Law Center of the Law`s Faculty of University of Coimbra (CDF). Coordinator of Law Group of FEUC since 2014 and co-coordinator of PhD "Law, justice and Citizenship in XXI century" ( FEUC/FDUC/CES) since 2015. Co - Winner of Social Science`s Gulbenkian Prize (1996). Between 1996 and 2002 works in several functions to Portuguese Government (Legal adviser; Head of Cabinet of Labor and Solidarity´s Minister and Head of Prime-Minister`s Cabinet; President and member of several legislative reform commissions) and in Public administration (President of the National Commission for Protection of Children in Risk and President of the Solidarity and Social Security Institute). From 2003 to 2005, Member of the Superior`s Judicial Counsel elected by Parliament. From 2005 to 2006, PNUD`s consultant of the Labor Legislation´s Reform in Mozambique. Judge (1984 - 1990). Lawyer (1990-1995 and since 2003). Coordinator-researcher or Researcher on several scientific projects about law and justice. Consulting partner in several projects of reform of public policies and social protection. Author and co-author of Sociology of Law`s books and articles. Lectures and participation in Congress (Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy Brazil and Mozambique).
