Livia C. Almendary


Biography

Doctoral Student in Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship at the Center for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra, Portugal; Master in Anthropology (PUC-SP) and graduated in Journalism (PUC-SP) and History (USP). Researcher at the group studies "Images, metropolises and youth cultures", linked to CNPq and the GT Infancy and Youth of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), and co-founder and director of Taturana Mobilização Social, an institute that democratizes access to cinema and enhances it as a tool for education, training and social impact. She also works as a communicator and educator, in addition to carrying out editorial-research, translation, writing and editing activities within organizations and social movements, magazines and publishers. Since 2017, has been researching the intersections between Latin American youth, audiovisual, documentary and visibility policies, based on decolonial and Cultural Studies perspectives. Has teaching experience as a popular educator in social movements and teaching classes, lectures, workshops and short courses duration related to cinema and social impact (UFS, UFScar, SESC, SENAC, FMU/FIAAM-FAAM, SPCINE).
