Abstract

Using dynamics of popular education and taking as its starting point the work of Josué de Castro , this presentation covers the economic, social and political impacts of social production of hunger and the food industry. This theme is linked to several others as internal colonialism; neocolonialism; imperialism; health; environment;  trade; human rights, land use and ownership; production technologies; control and access to knowledge and experience; respect for sexual cultural and food diversity; right to water and seeds. These issues will be addressed from the experiences of the Via Campesina, international coordination of family farmers.  For Via it is critical to guarantee people the right to self-determination over their own food, thus the concept of  "food sovereignty". The issue is current and resets from various exploration interests and disputes over territory and control trade on hunger and food production .
