Overview

This historical visit intends to present the events of the revolutionary process in Coimbra through a discovery of the city on foot. With the use of archival documents and photographs of the time, this route will allow the exploration of the city from the most striking sites and events of the revolutionary process, from April 25, 1974 to November 25, 1975. Demonstrations and political rallies, elections and occupations of buildings, tensions, but also the conquests that marked the entire revolutionary period. The "Routes of April 25 in Coimbra" aim to question Coimbra that was lived in 1974 and the changes in the life of the Conimbricans tbrought foward by the Carnation Revolution.

Bio note

Pierre Marie is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra as part of the project "25AprilPTLab - Interactive Laboratory of the Portuguese Democratic Transition". He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Coimbra and the University of Caen - Normandie (France).
