How to reorganise a vulnerable country?

About

Training series based on the latest report by the Observatory on Crisis and Alternatives entitled How to Reorganise a Vulnerable Country?, coordinated by José Reis and published in book form by Almedina at the end of 2020.

The book consists of 15 chapters, by a group of 21 authors, and the record in which it has developed is simple: identify a problem and propose an alternative. The aim was to open discussion. There is, of course, a direction: to reorganise a country that is crossed by many and diverse vulnerabilities and to do so by overcoming dependencies, correcting imbalances, fighting inequalities. And give a solid place to public action, the role of the state, planning and what is most solid in society.

Macroeconomics and economic organisation, public policies, labour, employment and production, urban territories, the environment, families, social interdependencies and inequalities. These can be the key words of the book. They are used to study vulnerabilities to which we cannot fail to pay attention. But we are also interested in the alternatives. And they are proposed here in all areas.

The radical uncertainty that surrounds us is the strongest invitation to discuss and look at the essentials, knowing that it cannot be in the old rationalities or the old restrictions that we find the terms of the discussion. It is life that imposes itself on us as our greatest value. Both individual lives and the life that must guide our collective reorganization, in the economy, in society, in the public and political space.

Each of the chapters will form the basis of each of the sessions that make up this course, open to all interested parties, who may enrol in the full series or only in one or more of the sessions.
