Bio notes
Emily Keightley is Professor of Media and Memory Studies in the Centre for Communication and Culture at Loughborough University. Her research interests centre on the mediation of time and memory in everyday life and she is currently the principal investigator on the Migrant Memory and Postcolonial Imagination project (2017-2024) funded by The Leverhulme Trust. She edits the journal Media, Culture & Society and is on the editorial board of Memory, Mind & Media.
Francisco J. Ferrándiz is Associate of the Center of Humanities and Social Sciences (CCHS) at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His research in the anthropology of the body, violence and social memory encompasses two main ethnographic objects: the spiritist cult of María Lionza in Venezuela and, since 2003, the politics of memory in contemporary Spain, through the analysis of the current process of exhumation of mass graves dating from the Civil War.
It will thus be a session co-organised between the project 'Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: The Colonial-Liberation Wars in Postcolonial Times' and the doctoral Prohrammes "Discourses: Culture, History and Society" and "Human Rights in Contemporary Societies".
