Mauro Serapioni


Biography

Mauro Serapioni is senior researcher at the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and member of the Research Group on Social Policy, Labor and Inequalities (POSTRADE). Mauro Serapioni is graduated in Political and Social Science at the University of Bologna, Master in Health Management at the Istituto Superiore di Sanitá (Rome) and PhD in Sociology from the University of Barcelona. Mauro Serapioni lectures in PhD Programme "Democracy in the 21st Century" (CES-FEUC). Visiting Professor at the Postgraduate Course in Collective Health at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) (2019). Invited professor at the Postgraduate School in Collective Health (2016-2018) and at PhD programme in Public Policy (2018) at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE); guest lecturer at Postgraduate Course in Social Work (2016) at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) of Franca; invited professor at the Postgraduate Course in Nursing (2014) of Universidade Estadual de São Paulo (USP) of Ribeirão Preto. In recent years he has been visiting researcher at the Faculty of Juridical and Social Sciences of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, (campus of Toledo, 2013), and at the Department of Political Science of the University of Pisa (2013). Its main research area is Citizen Participation in health systems in the southern European countries and Brazil. Another research topic developed in recent years concerns the Impact of the current crisis on Health Systems and Health Inequalities in Southern European Countries. He has also worked on the theme of Evaluation of social and health policies and programs. He has authored several publications in national and international journals in these areas. He was previously Director of the Specialization Course on "Health Local System Managers" at the School of Public Health of Ceará (Brazil: 1996-2002), Visiting Fellow at the University of Bologna (2003), Visiting Professor at the State University of Ceará (2003-04), Consultant for the Pan-American Health Organization and for the Brazilian Ministry of Health (2004-05), Lecturer at the University of Modena/Reggio Emilia (2006-07) and at the University of Bologna (2007-08). Areas of interest: Sociology of health; Governance and citizen's participation, Volunteering and Participation; Social Inequalities and Health, Evaluation of health services and social policy , and Research methods.
