Hugo Pinto


Biography

Economist. Permanent researcher at CES since 2016. Currently NECES co-coordinator. Since 2003, project manager in several R&D institutions in Portugal (BIC Algarve-Huelva, University of Algarve, CCMAR, University of Aveiro). In 2010, Hugo Pinto was visiting scholar at Institute of Advanced Social Studies of CSIC (Cordoba, Spain). Currently, associate member of CIEO - Research Centre on Spatial and Organizational Dynamics. Invited Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Economics (University of Algarve). Hugo developed in CES with FCT support, between 2013 and 2018, a post-doctoral research project about Resilience of Innovation Systems facing Economic Turbulence. MSc in Regional Economics and Local Development and graduate in Economics (University of the Algarve), prepared doctoral thesis with FCT support in CES-FEUC. Main research topics are: smart specialisation, regional resilience, innovation systems, knowledge transfer. Also interested in the discussion of Economics as a science and the economic turbulence. With his PhD research he was finalist in the Academic Tech Transfer and Commercialization Graduate Student Prize Literature Review of the AUTM - Association of University Technology Managers (2008) and Bartolomeu Award winner (best young researcher communication) of the Portuguese Association for Regional Development (2012).
