Biography

Architect, urbanist, and researcher at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra. He graduated in Architecture from the Lebanese University (2019), ranking first among public universities nationwide and receiving the Top Graduate Award from the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut. He later completed an Erasmus Mundus joint post-master's in Architecture and Archaeology across Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Naples, NTUA Athens, and the University of Coimbra. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture, focusing on everyday heritage and climate action. Ribal has contributed to EU research projects, including the EU Horizon 2020 URBiNAT - Urban Inclusive and Innovative Nature, as well as COST Actions and Creative Europe projects. His work centers on nature-based solutions, participatory design, and heritage-led climate action. He is co-editor of The Healthy Corridor Atlas: Roadmap for the Co-creation of Nature-based Cities, just published by Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. Alongside his research, he has worked in architectural practice on restoration and renovation projects, including ecclesiastical and World Heritage sites, as well as residential and commercial work. His projects span Munich and Bavaria, Coimbra, Beirut, and Ghana.
