Manuel João Cruz
Biography
Manuel João Cruz has a PhD in Communication Sciences and is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. He is currently studying political narratives and the populist narrative of Chega. He works in the field of Social Sciences with an emphasis on Communication Sciences and Political Science. He is the author of several articles on Disinformation and Fake News, as well as a book chapter on education in Higher Education. He is part of the 20th Century Populism Observatory team as an assistant researcher. He is also a researcher at the Center for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra (UC), where he is part of the Democracy, Justice and Human Rights thematic line. At CES, Manuel João Cruz is part of the project "UNPOP: Dismantling Populism: Comparing the formation of emotion narratives and their effects on political behavior". Main research interests: Media, Populism, Democracy, Narrative Studies.
