Political Economy and Development in Angola

Within the celebrations of the 36th anniversary of the independence of Angola, the cultural and recreational association Chá de Caxinde is co-organizing a week of events which will start the presentation of the book Economia Política e Desenvolvimento em Angola, by Nuno Vidal, Justino Pinto de Andrade, Alves da Rocha, Tony Hodges, David Sogge and Renato Aguilar.

The program will also include a photographic exhibition on Human marks in Angola, by the photographer Jorge Coelho Ferreira, consisting of photographic records of people with activities in non-urban places, in different provinces of Angola. The exhibition will be on display until 11 November, the 36th anniversary of the Independence of Angola.

Two documentary films will be screened – Diário do Deserto. Namibe (2009), by Cristina Salvador,  which tells the history of the Namibe desert people, and Da Terra, do Fogo e da Água (2009), by Richard Paklepa, about the San people, from Southern Angola.

Besides the project's institutional partners, the event will be live and in-full transmitted by RDP-África.

3:30 - 3:15 pm | Screening of the documentary film Diário do Deserto. Namibe, by Cristina Salvador, directed in 2009, consisting of an image collection accompanied by a narrative of the history of the Namibe desert people.

5:30 - 5:15 pm | Screening of the documentary film Da Terra, do Fogo e da Água, by Richard Paklepa, about the San people of Southern Angola, directed in 2009.
  
5:15  - 5:30 pm | Coffee break

5:30 - 6:30 pm | Round-table and presentation of the book Economia Política e Desenvolvimento em Angola. Contributions from David Borges (Journalist), Justino Pinto de Andrade (Catholic University of Angola) and Nuno Vidal (CES).
