Call for Gender Workshop – 6th Series proposals

Deadline: July 20, 2015

Gender Workshop - 6th Series

The Gender Workshop Series has been, for the last five years, an open space of debate that seeks to explore the epistemological potential of feminist perspectives in understanding social life. Feminist issues have been approached from different social, political and cultural contexts, and an intense dialogue between the most varied disciplinary and research areas has been promoted. In each workshop, a speaker presents and discusses a subject matter from her/his own research or professional and civic activity. In general, this presentation is based upon texts or other supports for discussion that are made available to participants before the workshop. A broad discussion with the audience ensues.

For the 6th Series, the organization wishes to enlarge participation to all those who may be interested in presenting discussion proposals from the most diverse areas of knowledge that may be relevant to promote a wider debate pertaining to feminist theory and/or to the critical feminist analysis of different contexts and case studies in specific areas, as well as, transversally, through the multiple expressions of feminisms.

We call for the presentation of workshop proposals to be held at CES between October 2015 and June 2016, always in the last Thursday of every month. Selected speakers will be subsequently invited to publish papers that reflect the content of the workshop and of the discussion in one of CES’s online journals.

For this purpose, proponents shall send an abstract (max. 300 words) to gw@ces.uc.pt until July 20th 2015, as well as a brief CV. They should also mention in which months they will be available to present the workshop.
The proposals will be selected by the following Scientific Commitee: Adriana Bebiano (CES/FLUC), Ana Oliveira (CES), Catarina Martins (CES/FLUC), Daniel Pinéu (FEUC), João Arriscado Nunes (CES/FEUC), Maria Irene Ramalho (CES/FLUC), Teresa Cunha (CES/ESEC).
