African Feminisms Sessions
From Independence Struggles to Future Challenges
September 23, 2025, 09h30
Anf. III (Faculty of Arts and Humanities - UC)
This session brings together women who are leading figures in feminist thought, arts and struggles in Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP). The aim is, on the one hand, to rethink the 50 years of the Independences from the perspective of women, as well as to retell a story that is essentially celebrated in the masculine. On the other hand, the present and future of the PALOP countries pose particular challenges to feminisms, which require a particular assessment of the present and bold and creative paths for the struggles for women's dignity and well-being. This session will also celebrate the collective struggle, with music and poetry.
Free admission, no registration required. Certificate of attendance provided.
