Reading Workshops Series
Rethinking the economy beyond capitalism
2024/2025
ECOSOL-CES is a Study Group on Solidarity Economy which, since March 2008, brings together students and researchers associated with the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (CES-UC) or other partner institutions, interested in advancing knowledge on different issues of Solidarity Economy (SE). The growing interest in the Solidarity Economy opens up space for a series of questions, whether about the place of the state in promoting these initiatives, the relationship between the SE and the market, or the challenges of organising production and consumption according to non-capitalist prerogatives.
This series of reading workshops aims to discuss theoretical/methodological reference texts focused on or in dialogue with solidarity economies, using different approaches and stressing empirical contributions based on different contexts.
We invite researchers, students, activists, journalists, and members of social movements to participate in this collective reflection.
The Reading Series will be online, and registrants will be able to access the articles or book chapters two weeks prior to the reading group on the event’s website.
This series of workshops is part of the activities of the Study Group on Solidarity Economy of the Centre for Social Studies (ECOSOL/CES ).
