Methodologies Series

Roundtable of Knowledges II

2020

CES | Alta

Overview

The diversity of research areas encompassed by the Centre for Social Studies implies the use of different methodologies. On the other hand, the challenges of research lead us through different paths but, in many cases, using similar strategies.

The “Roundtable of Knowledges” series proposes a space for critical reflection about scientific research methods and practices used by researchers at CES. It aims to develop tools for critical analysis about current research methodologies in the areas of social sciences, arts and humanities, as well as to promote inter and transdisciplinary dialogue in terms of methodological research practices among the community of researchers at CES.

Aiming to act as an incubator of rich inter/transdisciplinary experiences, this series comprises workshops (Oficinas) and roundtable discussions (Tertúlias). The workshops constitute more formal moments of analysis of specific methodologies, approaches and practices. The roundtable discussions, which take place on the first Thursday of each month (except in months in which there is a Roundtable of Knowlegdes workshop or when it coincides with holiday periods), complement the latter, providing informal moments for sharing experiences and doubts. In both instances, the debate will be guided towards facilitating the emergence of new ideas, new learnings, and opportunities for collaboration, projects or publications, arising from the focus on methodologies, which will be approached from different perspectives.
