Introduction to the themes of the mini-course, focusing on the relationships between the Amazon, colonial memory, vegetal life, contemporary art, and narrative disputes in archives, scientific institutions, and spaces for the preservation of memory.

09:30 Discussion with students and tour of the Botanical Garden
Guided walk focusing on selected trees and plants in the Botanical Garden, linking discussions on colonial memory, Indigenous and Afro-diasporic histories, living archives and plant landscapes.

14:30 Lecture and conversation with José Diniz
Conversation centred on brazilwood, its materialities, histories, memories and contemporary reverberations.
