Giovanni Allegretti

Ilaria Casillo (Napoles, 1977) is an urban geographer, professor at University Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée (UPEM) and researcher at the Lab’Urba Laboratory. Lecturer on Theory and Practices of New Urban Planning, Controversies and Great Works, Qualitative Methods and Social Research, Participation and Urban Requalification. Associate member of the Laboratory “Communication et Politique” of the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) member of the laboratory "Centre de recherches sur l' Habitat, National School for Higher Education in Architecture of Paris. Collaborates with the National Commission of French Public Debate (CNDP Commission National du Débat Public). Her research activities relate to urban transformation and gentrification processes, as well as to participatory processes in management and programming of space and argumentative analysis of scientific controversies. From 2011 to 2013 Casillo has worked at CNRS for the group "Democracy and Participation", and was scientific and editorial coordinator of the first French dictionary of participation "Dictionnaire critique et intérdisciplinaire de la participation" (published in 2014). Casillo has taught at several French universities such as the University Paris-Diderot Paris 7, the University de Valenciennes, La Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 University. Casillo collaborates with various international institutions such as UNESCO and the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) serving as international observer for elections. Since April 2014 (2014-2019 term), Casillo has been the coordinator of the Independent Authority for the Promotion of Participation of the Tuscany Region (Italy).
