Feminist Talk with Fernanda Belizário and Iuri Lopes

The Gender Workshop promotes feminist conversations with people whose lives and work contribute to the cause of women and gender equality in a wide variety of fields. This session will focus on dissident and migrant bodies, sex work, asylum and international protection and climate justice, based on the work of Fernanda Belizário.


Bio notes

Fernanda Belizario has a PhD in Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship from the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, with a dissertation on Brazilian transvestites in the sex industry in southern Europe. Belizario is a risk reduction technician and heads the APDES research department, having coordinated intervention and research projects on human rights and access to health for vulnerable populations at European level. She recently coordinated an EU study on access to PrEP for sex workers in 10 European countries. Her research interests centre on issues of gender, migration and coloniality, also intersecting the themes of asylum and international protection, as well as climate justice.

Iuri Lopes is an artist and researcher whose projects articulate dissident bodies, queer and transfeminist theories.
