Paula Machava


Biography

Paula Machava has a degree in Linguistics and Literature from the University Eduardo Mondlane, Mozambique, and a Master's degree in Education and Portuguese Teaching from the Pedagogic University of Mozambique. She is at present a student on the doctoral programme in Feminist Studies at the University of Coimbra. She is an assistant lecturer at the Lúrio Univeristy (Unilúrio) in Mozambique, where she teaches Portuguese African Literature and Portuguese Communicative Language Techniques, and directs the interdisciplinary areas "Education for Gender Equality" and "Gender and Sexuality". Her principal research interests are in initiation rites, gender and education, and in gender, community literacies; gender and local development; feminists economics and care
