Gabriela de Freitas Figueiredo Rocha
Biography
Gabriela is a Junior Researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, where she is integrated the the thematic line Democracy, justice and human rights and the individual research project "Europe from the perspective of the other: identity politics, struggles and counter-narratives for the construction of a racism-free society in Portugal" She is also a collaborator in the collective project "Biotraces: Biodiversity and Transformative Change for Plural and Nature-Positive Societies". She holds a PhD in Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship from the University of Coimbra (2020), a law degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2009) and a master's degree in Social Anthropology from the same university (2012). She has research experience in human rights, with a focus on the right to the city and ethnic territorialities in an urban context, interculturality, indigenous and quilombola identities. Currently, her interests focus on the investigation of anti-racist movements in a European context, struggles against environmental racism, critical epistemologies and intersectional feminisms.
