Fernando Fontes
Biography
Sociologist. He holds a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy, specialization in Disability Studies, University of Leeds, UK with the thesis: "Social Citizenship and Collective Action: The case of the Portuguese Disabled People's Movement" and an MA in Sociology and Social Policy (2006), University of Coimbra, Portugal. Fernando has been involved in the design, submission and development of a number of research projects exploring issues of disability, sexual and reproductive rights. He is currently developing the research projects: "DECIDE - Disability and selfdetermination: the challenge of Independent living in Portugal" (2016 - 2020), "SUPERA - Supporting the Promotion of Equality in Research and Academia" (2018-2022) and "FRANET - EUROPEAN UNION AGENCY FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS (FRA) MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH NETWORK" (2019-2022). Most recent publications include: "Mulheres, Sexualidade, Deficiência: os interditos da cidadania íntima.
