Mafalda Esteves


Mafalda Esteves is junior researcher at Centre for Social Studies and she is currently team member of the European research project Diversity and Childhood - Changing social attitudes towards gender diversity in children across Europe (DaC). Between 2015 and 2019 she was member of the research project "INTIMATE: Citizenship, Care and Choice: The Micropolitics of Intimacy in Southern Europe" (2014-2019) (ERC Starting Grant). She has developed professional and academic experience in the areas of Community Psychology, Social Movements and Participatory Culture and, Artistic practices for social change using the methodology of the Theater of the Oppressed. Mafalda Esteves is a PhD student at CIS/ISCTE-IUL where she develop the thesis entitled: Invisible sexualities: Intimate Citizenship and psychosocial well-being in Bisexuality- She holds a bachelor degree in Psychology (Pre-specialization in Social Psychology) from the University of Coimbra and a MA degree in Psychosocial Intervention from the Department of Social Psychology, University of Barcelona. Her main research interests are community action, sexual dissidence and well-being, feminist and LGBTQIA+/queer activism and youth.
