Sérgio Xavier
Biography
Sérgio Xavier was born on October 26, 1980 and grew up on the outskirts of Lisbon. He graduated in Architecture in 2006 (Instituto Superior Técnico). He co-founded and leaded the youth association Dínamo in Rio de Mouro. He has been a member of the National Youth Council Trainers Pool (2010-15) and is a member of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe trainers pool. He was responsible for training the Youth delegation at the World Forum on Democracy (Strasbourg, 2013). He was trainer in ToTHRE - Training of Trainers in Human Rights Education (Council of Europe, 2013-14). He was policy advisor to the Deputy Mayor for Social Rights in the Lisbon City Council in the areas of Human Rights, Participation and Youth (2013-17). He designed and coordinated SOMOS - Lisbon Programme for Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights. Since 2021, is a member of the Pool of European Youth Researchers (EC-CoE). He is a PhD student in the course "Democracy in the 21st Century". Research topics: education, democracy, human rights.
